Ryan Michael Ludwig, PhD, Founder and Mead Maker at Rebel Hive Meadery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in brewing mead.

Since 2017, Dr. Ludwig has excelled as the founder and mead maker at Rebel Hive Meadery. In preparation for his career, he studied chemistry extensively, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from DeSales University in 2010. He concluded his higher education at Lehigh University, where he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry in 2015. For his accomplishments as a mead maker, Dr. Ludwig earned a Best in Show award in 2017 and won a National Honey Society Competition in 2021.

Prior to his work at the Rebel Hive Meadery, Dr. Ludwig shared his knowledge as an educator, serving Albright College as a postdoctoral teaching fellow from 2016 to 2019. From 2014 to 2016, he was an adjunct professor at Moravian College and DeSales University. In 2015, he worked as a project assistant at Lehigh University and an adjunct instructor at Albright College.

Dr. Ludwig has additionally found success through his written works. He co-authored “Chemical Reaction Triggered Using Electrons Photodetached from ‘Clean’ Distributions of Anions Deposited in Cryogenic Matrices via Counterion Co-deposition” in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters in 2014 and “Formation of Ionic Complexes in Cryogenic Matrices: A Case Study Using Co-deposition of Cu- with Rare Gas Cations in Solid Argon” in the Journal of Chemical Physics in 2013. For his accomplishments, Dr. Ludwig earned a chemistry department fellowship at Lehigh University in 2014, a Richard A. Schaeffer Memorial Fund Scholarship in 2013, a Dean’s Summer Award from Lehigh University in 2012 and a Sigma Xi Grant in Aid of Research in 2012.

To keep abreast of his field, Dr. Ludwig is a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Mead Makers Association. He considers starting the Rebel Hive Meadery his most notable achievement and attributes his success to his faith in God, which drives his actions in life. In the coming years, Dr. Ludwig hopes to see his business grow and employ more people.
